AND THE WINNERS ARE...
Well done to Mariam(8G) and Zaynab (8S)! They are the proud winners of the 2008 TAFAL (Teach A Friend A Language) competitions that took place at Woodbridge High School on Friday 4th July. A tremendous achievement and a well deserved 1st place after all the effort they had put in. They have set the standards very high for next year's competitors!
Sarah (8S) and Whitney (8S) did us proud as well, it was not easy for them to wait all day and go on stage almost last. A wonderful effort though.

Anticonstitutionnellement
"Anticonstitutionnellement is the longest word in the French language but what does it actually mean?" Was the question of the language competition in May. This word is an adverb and it means "not in accord with the principles set forth in the constitution of a nation or state."
Saher in 9A is the winner! She will get her prize in assembly. 22 girls took part, mostly Year 7.
The competition this month is a charade, get an answer form from your French teacher and hand your answer in by Thursday 17th July. So get your French dictionary out, put your thinking cap on et Bonne Chance!
Mon premier a six faces.
On dort dans mon deuxième.
Mon troisième est le pluriel de ciel.
Mon tout signifie très bon.

TAFAL competition
The Year 8 TAFAL (Teach A Friend A Language) competition took place on Wednesday 11th June. 12 pairs took part in a very tight competition. All the girls worked very hard on learning their friend's home language. The judges were very impressed by the high standard. The most represented language was Urdu, we also had girls speaking Spanish, Tamil, Gujerati, Lingala and Twi. The pair speaking in Lingala, Whitney and Sarah, finished second and will go to the final in Woodbridge High School on Friday 4th July. With them will go Maryam and Zaynab who had put together a very amusing performance. Well done to all the girls! Good luck to the finalists.
